Melissa joined ACBJ in late 2021 to build an Audience Growth Team that would lead strategy for digital products, create standards, set goals, then train newsrooms on best practices for digital optimization and distribution.
In 2022, the team spearheaded an increase in social media AI-powered automation and revamped posting strategies to increase volume, consistency, engagement and clicks — read more about that in the True Anthem case study below. That same year, the team began a longterm search project aimed at improving site performance and search engine optimization.
In 2023, Melissa led the effort to relaunch all Business Journals apps to introduce interactive digital editions and a comprehensive push alert strategy. The Audience Growth Team also took a four-pronged approach to optimize newsletters: Cleanup lists, improve opt-ins, redesign for engagement and improve automations.
As a result, several key digital audiences grew in 2023.
